Peter Kuznick reviewed Wallace's career at length. He argued that Wallace was following in the footsteps of late President Franklin Roosevelt, whereas Truman was essentially reversing Roosevelt's work. In Kuznick's opinion, Truman disregarded the essential historical context that was necessary to understand the actions taken by the Soviet Union. As a result, Wallace had to fight against the nuclear arms race and the Cold War as well as Truman's "reactionary policies" on his own. [1]
